New Essaouira Mellah

The design idea is a compact plate in continuity with the image of the Arab horizontal city whose volume decomposes and fragments. It is emptied into different elements whose space will be dedicated to public or semi-public or private areas, which are the courts of the agglomerations of the houses.
The theme of the project is to allow the permeability between the historicized urban system, and therefore the walls, and the ocean through new views and walkways.
The project proposes forms that translate typical elements of Moroccan vernacular architecture into a contemporary language, with the aim of restoring identity to a piece of the city, now abandoned, which is the Jewish quarter.
